These two markers are on private property west of Woodland Park. From Highway 24, turn north onto County Road 25 (Trout Creek Road). The road immediately curves to the left, then right. About 0.1 mile from the intersection is a sign on the right made of welded chain reading "Rooks." The markers are behind the sign atop a knoll. According to GPS-derived geolocation (accurate to within 10 meters), the markers' coordinates are 38°58'57.3"N and 105°04'15.2"W. They are located in Section 26, Township 12 South, Range 69 West on land owned by Franklin D. Rooks. The adjacent markers read:

Samuel's obituary (Ute Pass Courier, Feb. 2, 1989, sec. B, p. 8) notes that he was born in Rocky Ford, Colo., to Samuel and Margaret (Murrell) Rooks. He graduated from Orway High School and served in the army during World War II. He married Edith on Aug. 21, 1941, in San Luis Obispo, Calif. They moved to Woodland Park in 1951. After Edith's death, he married Marie Rockwell on June 10, 1978, in Las Vegas, Nev.

Edith's obituary (Colorado Springs Gazette Telegraph, May 24, 1977, p. A4) says she was born in Minot, N.D., and attended schools in Tulsa, Okla. She was survived by her mother, Pearl B. Warrington, and children Franklin D. Rooks and Judith K. Woods.
